Server syncing integrity improvements

1.12.0 (2024-10-16)

Server syncing integrity improvements

This update has made several improvements to the background syncs that happen while you are editing your project. As your project is saved, a light weight sync will now run in the background, verifying any project/server discrepancies more frequently and efficiently than before.

The app will now suggest when a full server sync should be preformed from the Tools Menu to clean up any out of sync data it detects. In addition, the app will now monitor network errors and automatically run a background sync to verify project integrity, as well as performing a soft sync when a project is upgraded to the latest version after an app update.

These improvements should greatly increase the app's stability when working very quickly or with weak internet connections.

Documentation site Is now live!

1.11.1 (2024-10-03)

Documentation site Is now live!

The GearConnect docs site is now live at docs.gearconnect.ca! In the app, it can also be found under the Help Menu, which will open the site inside the app itself for easy access.

On the site, you can find guides, full reference material, and advance topics. You can read about how to use the app and understand all the features that GearConnect has to offer.

We hope the docs are useful as you explore GearConnect!

Improved searching in the Library Pane

1.11.0 (2024-09-20)

Improved searching in the Library Pane

The search fields in tree lists such as the Library Pane and the My Gear pane have received several improvements based on your feedback! Searches now search for parent and child items together. Meaning a search for 'Luminex' will now show all gear under Luminex as well, making it much easier to find gear by manufacturer or brand, without needing to know the exact name of the gear you are looking for.

In addition, searches are now more forgiving, ignoring spaces so gear such as 'EX 3' can be found by searching for either 'ex 3' or 'ex 3' for example.

Improvements

  • You can now choose a mesh grid instead of a dot grid for the Show Grid option; this can be changed in Edit -> Project Settings -> Drawing
  • A new Add Layer button has been added to the drawing toolbar
  • New keyboard shortcut to duplicate the selected gear item: CTRL+SHIFT+D
    • Note: This keyboard shortcut was previously used to open the Gear Config pane; this has now been changed to CTRL+SHIFT+C
  • New keyboard shortcut to relabel the selected gear item: F2
  • Improved Keyboard Shortcuts and Controls dialog that split out Draw Controls and Gear sections

Bug Fixes

  • Older changelogs were not always shown in the help menu
  • Fixed some instances where 'manufacturer' said 'manufacture' incorrectly

1.10.0 (2024-09-16)

Improvements

  • When available, a link is shown when adding gear, to take you to the manufacture's website for their expansion card configuration/options; example - PIXERA's servers will take you to their Configurator
  • Ports can now be connected to bidirectional signal flow ports, even if the other port is not bidirectional; previously both ports needed to be bidirectional for the connection to be accepted, but now you can connect an output to a bidirectional signal flow, just like port direction
  • Saving is disabled in the Library Editor, along with selecting a new library item, if the current preview is queued for, or is actively re-generating; this mitigates a few reported stability bugs
  • If a re-gen is pending or in progress, the re-gen button in the Library Editor now has a spinner to indicate there are pending changes
  • When expansion cards for a given library item are still loading, the Configure Expansion Card button now has a spinner, to prevent being clicked on before the cards have been loaded
  • Several performance improvements

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed sometimes being prompted that you have unsaved changes when quickly switching between library items in the Library Editor
  • Fixed styling on several links
  • Memory leak fixes
